KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 8 (Bernama) -- Malaysia will continue to support the Palestinian cause and will not relent to pressure from any quarters, said Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia.
"Although Malaysia is a small Islamic country, we had made our stand known. We do not listen to what the superpower tells us to do. It is up to us as we are not scared of making our stand in forums organised by either by Islamic countries or the United Nations.
"We do not hide our support to the Palestinian struggle as we had recognised Palestine as a sovereign country," he told reporters after receiving three Palestinian members of parliament (MP) here on Tuesday.
They were Dr Salem A. Salamah, who headed the delegation, Ismail A.M. Alashqar and Mushir O.K. Almassri.
Pandikar Amin said the Dewan Rakyat had unanimously passed a motion to condemn the Israeli invasion of Gaza last year.
On the visit, he said the Palestinian MPs called for exchange of information on the development of both countries among MPs.
Present were PAS leaders, including its deputy president Nasharuddin Mat Isa and vice-president Salahuddin Ayub.
